Performancewear : Madboots Dance

In celebration of Pride Week, the Joyce Theatre presented two queer contemporary dance companies, MADBOOTS Dance and Sean Dorsey Dance.

MADBOOTS DANCE is a queer, all-male dance troupe known for its fearless athleticism and unashamed intimacy.

I had the great pleasure of working with Jonathan & Austin to create the costumes for 'Masc', the first half of MADBOOTS' program, and am very inspired by the power and poetry of their work.

New York Times Critic Alastair Macaulay wrote: "Madboots, a New York company, showed two quite dissimilar works: “Masc” (a New York premiere) and “Gay Guerrilla” (a world premiere). Both shone with dance rigor, admirable performers, choreographic variety — and both were mysterious. Madboots was founded six years ago by Jonathan Campbell and Austin Diaz, who remain its artistic directors; I hope to see more of the company’s work. "
